Cory-Merrill

Cory-Merrill

The Cory-Merrill neighborhood, was formed in the late 1940’s when the Cory Elementary School and Merrill Junior High School were built on donated farm land.  At the same time, developer, Les Tremblay, purchased parcels of land around the schools to build small single-story homes for veterans returning from WWII.  The homes Tremblay built became known as “Les Tremblay Small Houses” and characterized the neighborhood until the early 21st century.

Today, the Les Tremblay Small Houses are rapidly being scraped and replaced by larger, more expansive homes.  The redevelopment and investment opportunities in the neighborhood as well as its close proximity to I-25, 2 light rail stops, and the University of Denver, have made Cory-Merrill a popular neighborhood.
