This meticulously maintained Lower Highlands home has beautiful hardwood flooring throughout and a unique mix of modern features and original charm. A sleek, stainless steel gas fireplace sits in the living room above an original tile hearth. Your eyes are immediately drawn to a bright modern chandelier, the centerpiece of the dining room, highlighted by a gorgeous original built-in hutch in the background. High ceilings create an open, bright and spacious feeling to this home.

This open and functional kitchen is truly amazing with all stainless steel appliances including a microwave hood combination, newer cabinetry, granite slab counter tops and a slate tile backsplash. No detail has been overlooked by these owners who have included a built-in knife holder, built-in spice board and a TV/DVD under cabinet fixture. A half-height wall with bar seating connects the kitchen to the sun-filled dining room, perfect for entertaining guests while finishing up a home-cooked meal.

The unique bungalow layout of this home provides 3 bedrooms on the main level in addition to a full bathroom and linen closet. The owners have tastefully selected window coverings, paint and light fixtures that provide each bedroom with a distinctive and clean feel. Beautiful French doors off of the middle bedroom add openness to the entire floor plan.

Two additional bedrooms and one additional full bathroom are located in the basement. Sharply angled windowsills enhance the light capture of the basement and higher ceilings create a bright and open feel to the space. A spacious and comfortable basement master suite could be easily configured if privacy is a preference.
This home has a fully finished basement with a wide back stair addition off of the kitchen. The basement has an open floor plan with higher ceilings, newer carpet and wood laminate flooring. The family room is comfortable and easily fits a corner sectional for plenty of seating. A large finished walk-in closet area provides tons of storage for the whole family!

This home is move-in ready with new windows throughout and a sprinkler system that will keep your lawn green all summer long. Enjoy the shops and restaurants along 38th Avenue or venture further into the LoHi neighborhood for a delicious dinner at Root Down or a creative cocktail at Williams and Graham. This professionally renovated, historic, Potter Highlands home is truly the best of both worlds! The first floor has been completely remodeled but maintains its historic charm with original hardwood floors throughout, bright white wainscoting, leaded glass windows and a lovingly restored original fireplace.

While the first floor has the charm, the second floor is all luxury! The second floor is a brand new addition and features a large master suite with a spa-like 5 piece bathroom, 10′ cathedral ceilings and arguably the largest closet in the Potter Highlands neighborhood! Don’t let the modest bungalow exterior of this home fool you…this home is truly amazing inside!!!

Kitchen:

The open and functional kitchen has been completely renovated and features all new stainless steel appliances, slab granite counter tops, custom porcelain tile backsplash, and custom cabinetry with under-cabinet lighting and tons of room for storage. The kitchen is next to a spacious, sun-filled dining room and is connected with bar seating, perfect for entertaining guests while finishing up a home cooked meal.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms:

This home has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms: two bedrooms and one bathroom are on the main level and one bedroom and one bathroom are upstairs. The large Master Suite upstairs is the hidden gem of this home! Bright and sunny, with high ceilings, new hardwood flooring, a huge walk-in closet (18’6″ x 6’0″!) and a 5-piece luxury bathroom…you won’t find anything else like this in an historic home! A sliding glass door connects the master bedroom to the master bath which has dual vanities, a large marble tile shower, separate toilet room, an antique claw foot tub and a conveniently placed linen closet. The shower is “pre-wired” to install a steam shower and features a floor to ceiling glass door.

The main floor bedrooms have 9 foot ceilings and relatively large closets for an original bungalow home. The first floor bathroom has been renovated with all new fixtures but also has an antique claw foot tub and a beautiful antique sink base. The original bathroom has been expanded with the movement of a wall and the bathroom door has been replaced with a sliding door adding spaciousness to the bathroom and central hallway.

Highland, Lower Highlands, Potter Highlands…What’s the difference?

There are so many northwest Denver neighborhood names (Highland, Highlands, East Highlands, West Highlands, Potter Highlands, Lower Highlands, Sunnyside, Berkeley, Sloan’s Lake and Jefferson Park), but which neighborhood names are “correct?”

Well, I guess the answer depends on how you define, “correct.” Often people casually refer to all of the areas of northwest Denver as “The Highlands” and then break the Highlands into sub-neighborhoods like Berkeley and Sunnyside.

Northwest Denver Official Neighborhood Map

City of Denver Neighborhood Map

The City of Denver, however, breaks northwest Denver up into the following 6 distinct neighborhoods: Highland (no “s”), Sunnyside, Berkeley, West Highland (again, no “s”), Sloan Lake and Jefferson Park.  Potter Highlands (apparently the City is good with the “s” here) is often used interchangeably by locals with Lower Highlands (aka “LoHi”), but Potter Highlands is actually a Denver Historic District with distinct boundaries inside of the official Highland neighborhood.  Surprisingly, according to the City’s map, Lower Highland doesn’t officially exist!

Red Door Properties provides neighborhood descriptions and pre-set housing searches for the non-official, casually defined neighborhoods of Berkeley, Sunnyside, Highland (the City’s official “West Highland”), LoHi or Lower Highland (the City’s official “Highland”) and Sloan’s Lake.  These neighborhood boundaries and names may not be officially correct, but this is how most people refer to the areas.

Are you now more confused about the northwest Denver neighborhood names than you were before you read this blog?!?
