Belcaro

The Belcaro neighborhood is named after the Lawrence C. Phipps mansion. Phipps, a U.S. Senator representing Colorado from 1919-1931, chose Belcaro as the name of the mansion. The Phipps Mansion (pictured to the right) is a 33,123 square feet, 7 bedroom estate situated on 5.5 acres. In the 1960’s, Mrs. Phipps donated the Phipps mansion to the University of Denver. The estate is now utilized as a conference center and hosts many corporate, private and philanthropic events.
The Belcaro neighborhood is centrally located with Cherry Creek and Downtown just 15 minutes away, but the neighborhood remains predominantly a quiet residential area. Large ranch style homes, expansive front lawns and beautiful, tree-lined streets characterize this neighborhood. In recent years some of the older properties have been demolished and replaced with larger luxury homes. The most spectacular properties are located in the center of the neighborhood.
